My partner work for NHS as administrator. On his interview he was told he's going to work at location A and that was the factor that helped him make decision on accepting the role as it was walking distance for him. He has however been asked to cover reception at location B due to sickness. This has been happening few times in month yet still he's main location is place A. Now, person that was always sick in place B has left and while they are looking for a replacement, my partner and other admin staff are rotating between the main location A and second location B. This means that he now has to drive with no access to parking 2 days a week to cover other place of work and his colleague has to cover other 3 days. He has been told that he's not allowed to claim expenses for travel to place B as "he can walk there". Distance to location A is 0.7 miles (1.4 miles there and back) and takes him 12min to walk. Location B is 2.1 (4.1m there and back) miles away and takes about 45m. Is the "no expenses allowed" correct? Location B is his temporary workplace that he travels to directly from home. He goes there to perform a task of limited duration. It is not expected to last more than 24 months and he's not going pass his main place of work.
