Spread betting and self-assessment

Hi, I am an online tutor but I also do spread betting frequently. In the previous tax year, I earned significantly more in spread betting than my tutorial business. What I get from BIM22015 is that profits from spread betting are not taxable, no matter how frequent I trade. However, there are also some websites stating that if profits from spread betting exceeds my primary income, I have to do self-assessment and pay income tax. I wonder which version is correct.
