Hi, I paid forward tax in January 2022 and in July 2022, this was for tax year 2021/22. When completing my self assessment for tax year 2021/22, the tax calculation showed DOES NOT take into account what I have paid forward in January 2022 and July 2022. When I submit, will this be taken into account and what I I already paid be deducted? PS - what I have already paid is MORE than what tax calculation is for whole of 2021/22.

Hi,

The SA302 tax calculation is solely a calculation of your tax liability for the year, based on the entries in your tax return. At this stage, payments on account or any other payments are not included.  

When your tax return is captured, your Self Assessment statement is updated with the results of the calculation and payments on account are applied at that stage. Hopefully, the payments on account have covered all or most of the liability, so the only a small balancing payment is due. There is guidance on payments on account here:
