Has anyone else experienced a mismatch between their tax return amount, and balancing payment? Mine is showing be a balancing payment around £700 higher than my tax return for 21/22? There is no previous tax owed and no penalties on my account. The breakdown for my return gives me an amount due by the 31st of Jan, and then the pay now option is £700 higher?

Thank you, I have received my tax calculation in the post, turns out I had not separated my SEISS payment from the overall income. I have rectified my self assessment tax return now to reflect this, do I still need to file an appeal for the original calculation? I have already paid the initial calculation, which is obviously an overpayment. Do I need to request a refund for the overpayment?

Hi dcarter213,

If you have amended the return and submitted this, a revised calculation will be generated.

If you contact our helpline 72 hours after submitting your tax return, we will be able to start the refund process:
