submitted p55 to reclaim tax paid on flexibly accessed part pension pot. HMRC has responded requiring confirmation of a private pension paid monthly at a level amount for the last 15 years requesting resubmission of p55 when I have received the full amount ie in March 2026 until which I cannot receive my refund. This has not happened previously and appears to go against HMRC advice which asks me to give estimate on p55 (which I did ) then available for later check by HMRC. Is this a change of policy or an error? Never

Hello - not asking for personal advice just clarification of process for reclaiming tax on flexibly accessed part pension pot - is it still the case that HMRC accepts P55 estimates of future income or does it now require documentary proof potentially delaying repayment to P60 receipt the following year

Hi elizabeth brock,
Yes - at time of writing, estimates of future income are accepted when completing the P55, if final figures are not available.
Claim back tax on a flexibly accessed pension overpayment (P55)
Thank you.
