I closed my little business April 2021 and submitted final tax return January 2022 - I remember submitting a form saying I am no longer self employed - I cannot find anything saying that was not received - however, I have recently had a letter saying I am late with my tax return however when I tried to fill in the form again online it says my address doesn’t match up however it is the same address on the reminder letter - I have tried calling numerous times but cannot get through / I have had no reminder letters on NI so gather there is a missing link somewhere - please advise

Your only options are to telephone the self assessmen helpline to confirm your self employment has ceased. 

You could also complete the self assessment critierial tool, to confirm that self employment is no longer appropriate, prior to calling, 

You may want to call earlier in the morning.

(Open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. 

Closed on weekends and bank holidays) .
