Hello. All leaseholders in the block of flats in which I own and rent out a property, were required to contribute to roof repairs and water pipe replacements as the original were not fit for purpose. These were year long works, some of which is still outstanding. I have invoices totalling £25k for my proportion of these costs. Can I treat these as an allowable expense as the works are repairs rather than enhancements? Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your question.

Providing the roof has not been enhanced
i.e. had skylights/velux widows fitted then you would be able to claim the cost as a revenue repair .

This also applies to the pipework .

Thank you.
