Can I ask about the correct answer to the following: Amount of underpaid tax for earlier years included in your tax code for 6 April 2021 to 5 April 2022 (from your PAYE Notice of Coding): £ 0.00 Is this figure correct? I have checked my two 2021/2 PAYE tax codings. First one mentions no underpaid tax but the 2nd sent to me in July 2022 is an updated tax coding. It does not mention underpaid tax from previous years but states that due to an in year adjustment to your tax code(s) we think that you will owe HMRC £888.80. So that you pay the right tax for the year, we have included an adjustment to reduce your tax-free allowance by £3168. I'm confused do I agree with the statement that there is 0.00 for previous years? I also note that the next question then asks about underpaid tax adjusted for underpaid tax (no mention of previous years). It also states 0.00 Do I need to reference this £888.00 anywhere? Thanks

Hi,

You would agree with the statement that there is 0.00.

The in year adjustment will be to correct your tax for 22/23.

You do not need to reference the £888.00  .

Thank you.
