Hi, ive recently had some fines. One is for 30 days late payment + 60 days late payment - my HMRC records clearly show this tax return was both in on time and all tax paid before due date Another penalty is for setting up a payment plan, i understodd there was interest on a payment plan but it never mentioned any penalty! So ive complained and been told twice now that i must pay these penalties before they will consider my complaint?! How is that acceptable to anyone. Why should i pay a penalty that by my own tax records i clearly dont owe. Surely im not being given proper handling of my complaint when theyre telling me to apy them and then hope they find in my favour. That nothing short of scandalous Can anyone advice if i can just tell them to pass my complaint up the chain without paying first? thanks
