Hi, I started up as a sole trader earlier in the year in April and last month I requested to stop trading and stop my self assessment as I no longer have the time to work for myself. But I have not heard anything back from GOV or received any mail, emails etc. its been just over a month since i notified about stopping self assessment and feels weird that I have not heard any word back. I have seen through forums and other info that gov request you to send a final self assessment based on the period of trading up until i stopped which is why having no response seems strange. So is this normal to not hear from gov after cancelling self assessment or is it the case that maybe my request to stop has not gone through? Or is it simply that I have to just wait to file at the end of the tax year and then cancels from there onwards Any help would be appreciated

If you contact our Self Assessment helpline we can confirm if this has been processed or if it is still in the queue.
