Hi! I noticed that the deadlines page (https://www.gov.uk/self-assessment-tax-returns/deadlines) contains the following note: "You must tell HMRC by 5 October if you need to complete a tax return and have not sent one before.". I have not sent a tax return before. However, I have already received a letter from HMRC a few months ago, and it informed me that a new Unique Taxpayer Reference has been created for me. Am I correct in assuming that I did not need to do any other registration before October 5th or did I miss something here? Is completing the actual tax return the only thing left for me to do or is there any other registration that I am not aware of? Many thanks.

Hello, please can someone help me with an answer here? If no other registration is needed I will start filling in the tax return. Thank you kindly. Mihai

Hi Mihai Enache,
If you already have your UTR then you do not need to register again.
The next step would be for you to file the tax return.
Thank you.

Hi,

If you already have a UTR then you do not need to register again. The next step would be to submit your Self Assessment tax return.

Thank you.
