Late payment due to HMRC website problems

So I couldnt submit my tax return in time. I have been in touch with them about this before the deadline. Does anyone know if I will pay the £100 anyway?

Hi sparrow,

If your return was submitted after the deadline there will be a penalty unless you were advised we had extended the deadline.
