Hi, none of the online information has any box numbers. Is this under tailor your return? If so which line exactly please? Regards Paul

Hi, it's in the Employment section, under Employment Expenses, Box 20 is 'Other expenses and capital allowances". The £6x52 weeks = £312 goes in there.

Hi vipa2000

You need to answer yes to the question about claiming employment expenses, this will then open up the page to claim the allowance.

Thanks both a for a reply - BMad and HMRC but still drawing a blank. I cannot find a question that asks about 'claiming employment expenses'. I wish you could include screenshots! Can we go back to 1st principles, there are 8 sections to compile a return. 1) welcome, 2) tell us about you. 3) Tailor your return 4) Fill in your return 5) check your return 6) view your calculation 7) save your return 8) submit your return. Which one of these 1st and then some have sub numbers? Thanks in advance.

No, the question is towards the end of the employment page on the fill in your return section.

Thank you.

Vipa2000 - Click on the section "Fill in your return", then under the Employment section, click on "change income" under your employer's name. At the bottom of the screen choose Yes for "Do you wish to claim any employment expenses or capital allowances while working for XXXX?", then click save and continue. You will see the boxes to enter employment expenses. I used the last one "Other expenses and capital allowances".

In this instance it may be best to contact us direct so we can talk you through completion of the return
as we are unable to do this on this forum.

Thank you.

@gliderjoe does this still work? you seem to have been the only person that has given the specific steps. However im not sure if its changed... I am assuming you enter from PAYE then go to current year - is that right? Thanks Scott
