In my 2021-22 PAYE Coding letter there is an amount in the section "Estimated tax you owe (this year)". Does this need to be entered anywhere in my self assessment? (In my self assessment the pages "Underpaid tax included in PAYE coding (Page 1 of 2)" and "Underpaid tax included in PAYE coding (Page 2 of 2)" both show nothing).

Hi, I have done my 2021/2022 tax return and there is an estimate of the total amount of Income Tax I will pay on all your PAYE income for 2022/2023 tax year. And the system shows I have pay for it. Can I learn how you calculated this amount? The amount is clearly very high. It seems I will not have earned that much amount. One more thing, why do I need to pay half of the estimated income tax although the deadline of 2022/2023 tax return is 31 Jan 2024? I paid the income tax of the period of 2021/2022 but have not for 2022/2023 as the estimation is wrong and it is not due. Will that cause any issue? Kind Regards

Hi,

The amounts for 22/23 are payments on account.
