Self assessment and partnership accounting dates

My husband and I started working together July 2022 and are about to register as a tax partnership. But I am confused about the accounting date. If I put 1 July 2022, do I have to do a full 12 months before submitting a return or can the year end in 5 April 2023 so that it alines easier with our individual self assessment returns. I am keen to make our tax returns as simple as possible.

You will use 5 April 2023 for the end date of your first period. This will ensure your accounts are in line with the tax year for the new making tax digital that requires the accounting period to run to 5 April.
