Hi Kinga
When completing the verification questions you will need to use the 'get help with this page' or 'is there something wrong with this page' link to contact the digital support team.
If the information is correct, you will need to advise them of this to check if there is any process to review this.
Thankyou.
Regards.

Hi

Andrea Zanchi ,

If you are unable to verify with the options provided, you will need to complete a paper return.

You will need to complete the SA100 and any supplementary pages which apply to the income you received in the tax year.

The forms can be found here :

Self Assessment tax return forms    .

Thank you.

Hi I need help in completing my self assessment tax return.I tried to confirm my identity by learning license and the p60. But in the "total for the year" section that appears in my p60 I get an error at the added value. What does that mean? Many thanks!

I cannot verify my ID on line. According to DVLA, another Govt Agency has different details to those held by DVLA. They cannot tell me how to find out which Govt Agency so that I can fix the problem. They will issue a verification code valid for 21 days. This is suitable for car hire places and so on but does HMRC provide a place on the verification page to input that code? No, they do not. I logged a technical complaint but they wrote back to say not their problem. I see that lots of people have this problem or similar problems. Who can help me with this? I’m not satisfied with ringing up and getting my UTR sorted by a beleaguered person over the phone. I want to know why this is so impossible to navigate and why I can’t find out who holds incorrect details on file. My only thought is to write to Myrtle Lloyd to see if she can shed any light on this ongoing Customer Service problem.

Hi Bianca1996,

When using the P60 option, it should be the pay and tax from that employment only.

Thank you.

Currently trying to verify my ID but have been abroad for 15 years so only have a valid UK passport and paper driving license. Credit check is not recognizing anything for my previous UK address. How do I verify to enable access to review pension payments and shortfall contributions to be made?

Hi,

You will need to contact us to update your address in order to verify your identification.

National Insurance: general enquiries

Once you have changed your address, you should wait 72 hours then try to access the Gateway again.

With regards to paying voluntary National Insurance contributions shortfalls whilst abroad, you will need to complete application form CF83.

Social Security abroad: NI38

You can also provide us with your new address on this form if you do not want to contact us by phone.

Thank you.

Hello, I'm also failing to verify my identity online multiple times (using my Driving License and Credit record that are the only two options available to me). I have also posted form SA1 (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-assessment-register-for-self-assessment-and-get-a-tax-return-sa1) back in 16/08 and had no answer, I still can't access Government Gateway services. Can someone help me?

Hello Admin Team, I am unable to log into HMRC services due to a problem with the verification of my identity. I am unable to verify my identity via any of the options provided - I do not possess 2 of the suggested documents and the GOV Check ID route fails upon return to the HMRC website. I have tried calling 0300 200 3600 several times and once I finally got through and was put on hold, after 53 minutes the automated voice just said "Thank you. Goodbye." and closed the line. I was able to access HMRC back when I registered. But now, after several months, and with the new identity verification system, I am unable to get through to my profile. Please help!

I need to identify because I want to set up an account. I need an UTR but it is impossible to get hold by anybody via phone or internet. I do not have the required two items - eg British passport - and need to download the app for identification. It is not only difficult to find the right app - once I have found it the system says that the app does not work on my smartphone. Even if I try other smartphones I cannot use the app, and the smartphones are not that old. That is very depressing and when I asked the chat bot, I was only told that there are sometimes problems for non-British people to identify. Sadly, I did not get any information about what else I can do. I feel trapped in loops despite having tried on different days and via different approaches. Please help, it makes me even more ill than I am already.
