I'm aware that I can claim tax relief on my pension continuations as a higher rate tax payer but can't work out which section to submit it in? As its not been claimed in the last 4 years I understand I can claim the backdated amounts as well. Can anyone advise where this is added in the self assessment return?

Hi,

On the tailor your return section, there is a question that asks about pension contributions, and on the section for declaring the contributions there is a question that asks about contributions where 20% relief is not claimed by your provider.

Thank you.

Hi,

On the tailor your return section, there is a question that asks about pension contributions. If you answer yes to this it will open up a section to complete.

If you completed returns for previous years, you can amend 20/21 return until 31/01/2023.

You can amend earlier returns in writing and claim overpayment relief.

Thank you.
