I am registering as a sole trader for the first time this year (April 6 2022- April 5 2023) and am not sure If I need to be doing anything now besides keeping records until I can register at the end of the tax year. However, I've been reading from the musicians union webiste that I need to tell the government/ register as soon as possible (At the start of making money in a tax year) am a bit confused about this since I'm not sure if/how I need to tell HMRC I've set up as a sole trader since the only thing I can do is register after the end of the tax year. The only information I am reading from the government site is also that I just register after the tax year ends so am a bit lost as to if I need to do anything at present. This is my first time so any help would be appectiated, Thanks!
