I've been trying to contact you to set up a self assessment payment plan as the online service says I am not eligible to do it online, I have made circa 60 calls in to the 03002003835 number since 9am Monday 30th Jan entering my UTR, postcode and DOB. but every time I have been cut off, sometimes after 1 minute, other times after 75 minutes. I am going to default on my tax payments because there is no option but to call you, but your phone system isn't fit for purpose. What alternative contact options do I have so I do not get a penalty for late payment?

I have tried to call you on that number and still continue to get cut off, what other options are there to contact your office? I am trying to get in touch with you guys but it is just not possible. I don't think I'm alone here too. Please offer an alternative to phoning up as this plainly isn't working.

I have been cut off twice today, once by your system and then an operator. I cannot do the necessary transaction online, I’ve waited at least 20 minutes before each cut off. Any idea how I speak to someone?????

Hi I managed to get through,I wanted to cancel the marriage allowance as the only think I wanted was to backdated for previous tax 22-23 year but online I couldn't backdated without applying for the new tax year 23-24. So I rang and HMRC to stop it for this new tax year told me that now I can't change the tax codes until the end of this year.So this year we ll both have earnings more than the personal allowance how would this affect us as we are also on Universal credit Thank you

Hi Elenivi Vodina,

If you are both taxpayers then overall you would still pay the same amount of tax.

Thank you.

Two times i have called today April 28th 2023, to be cut off after 55 minutes midway through a call. And now after listening to all of the reasons why i shouldn't call and answering questions...they cut off. It's completely not fit for purpose this system. I'm trying to get my tax rebate ( money owed to me) and I cant even finish a call !!

Same issue here. The HMRC Resume button is broken and I need help to submit. Called many times and just got hung up on. 30min queue to try again. I've missed my submission. This needs to be fixed.

I was on a call with Courtney, I waited 40 minutes! She was looking into my queries when the call went off “stating thank you for calling, goodbye” I assumed she may call back to avoid me ringing into the long queue again given my disclosure of a disability. I am now waiting in line again and have to go through the whole discussion again.

I am attempting to cancel Child Benefit however whenever I call I get cut off. I have called 9 times in the last 24 minutes and as soon as I get into the queue I'm cut off. I'm not being funny but this is ridiculous. I will be charged £1000 if I do not submit a self assessment or opt out of child benefit. I'd like to opt out but you're phone line isn't allowing me to do so. What other number can I contact beside the 03002003100 number given here https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/child-benefit

Hi Ian Richards,
I am sorry, but that is the only number to contact to stop the Child Benefit payments.
Thank you.
