Hi, I moved to UK for employment purpose in year 2012 and since then I am UK tax resident (10-year UK tax resident). I am non-domicile UK as I am Indian citizen. In January 2023, I received interest income of £1800 in my overseas bank account, and I have no plan to remit this amount to UK. As per RDR1 section 9.15, I can use the remittance basis without having to complete a Self-Assessment tax return and I will retain my entitlement to UK Personal Tax Allowances and will not have to pay the Remittance Basis Charge (RBC). Please advise if I have to pay UK tax on unremitted foreign income of £1800 through Self-assessment. Thank you

Hi,

If you are not remitting the income to the UK then no UK tax will be charged.

See further guidance at:

Remittance basis 2022 (HS264)

Thank you.
