I have tried to get old monthly statements for the period Jan 21 to Sept 21 online through the customs declaration services as instructed. But every time I submit the form it tells me that there was an unexpected error, I have tried for several times now over a space of three months. When I phone the number the screen tells me to I get transferred to different departments and eventually hung up on. Can anyone help ?

Hi
This appears to be a digital issue.
I would recommend reporting this to them.
You can do this by going to the bottom of the page and click on the link 'report a problem with this page'.
This Tean will come back to you after 48 hours.
Thankyou.
Regards.

I have the same problem, in fact I've been trying to retrieve old monthly statements since mid February. I called the VAT help line and they said I should try again in 10 days, I did this and still no joy. I reported back to the helpline and they said I need to click on 'report a problem with this page' as it must be a web team issue. Web team said they couldn't help but they had registered a 'page fault'. I've been trying again and now get the message 'we are experiencing technical difficulties'. Why is this still broken after 3 months?

See the attached excerpt from HMRC's website. 'You can only access a statement for 6 months from the date it’s published. You must download and keep a copy of each statement in your records. Statements older than 6 months old are archived.' If the statements are archived their must be a way to access them so what is missing from the HMRC guidance is how businesses obtain these archived documents. It is not therefore a problem with the page.

In fact there is a method to obtain archived statements, it just doesn't work. When you are logged in to your PVA statements download page there is a clickable link "Request a statement that’s older than 6 months". You click this, fill in the dates required, press submit, then an error message appears, "an error has occured" or "we're experiencing technical difficulties". Been like this since February...
