Repayment interest

If I submit a VAT return showing a repayment of VAT is due to me, my understanding is that I will receive interest on the repayment amount from the day after the later of the return submission date and the return due date until repayment has been authorised by HMRC. Is the interest paid automatically, or do I need to claim it? If automatic when will I receive the interest payment?
