You must renew your tax credits by 31 July 2019 if your renewal pack has a red line across the first page and it says ‘reply now’.

If you miss the deadline your tax credits payments will stop. You’ll be sent a statement and will have to pay back the tax credits you’ve been given since 6 April 2019.

Once you have received your renewal pack, the easiest way to renew is online:

Manage your tax credits.

If you're signing in for the first time you’ll need a Government Gateway account and a permanent National Insurance number. Once you have signed in, you will automatically activate your Personal Tax Account.

This means you will be able to check your records and manage your details with HMRC. This includes checking and managing your tax credits as well as tracking any forms that you’ve submitted online.

What you need:
  • your renewal pack - if you don’t get your renewal pack by 21 June 2019, Contact HMRC
  • your National Insurance number
  • details about any changes to your circumstances
  • you and your partner’s total income for the last tax year
