  • Helping out on top of normal employment

Last year my father went into hospital for a major operation which had a long recovery time. He is self employed. As his recovery cut down his mobility I ended up doing several trips for him over several months on top of my normal part time employment (PAYE). This was to keep the business running and make sure he could honour his commitments. In the Tax year 2023-24 he paid me c£2,700 in total for my time which I need to submit to HMRC. As I am not self employed or employed as such by my father I am confused in how to do this after reading the information on this website. I would be thankful if someone could point me into the right direction on hoe to progress.
