I'm a theatre performer who was inevitably out of work during the beginning of the pandemic, and applied for and managed to secure a £2,000 one-off grant to help me pay for my daily living, while not receiving any income from employment. There were only a limited number of possible recipients for the grant, so I was in effect 'competing' against other applicants for the money. I was and am currently still on Universal Credit. I can't seem to find any information on whether this specific type of money is taxable, and whether I should be including it on my return? Or is it the same rule for all types of grants?
