RE: Certificate of Residence for tax purposes
Hi Joana Morais, Do you still have the number or email you used to contact HMRC? It seems that my Certificate of Residence form is missing and the number that we're supposed to call (+44 135 535 9022) is "temporarily" unavailable.... Thanks in advance. -
RE: Refusal of letter of confirmation by Portuguese Tax Office as Certificate of Residence
Hi again, The number you gave me is for UK locals, as I'm overseas I had to use the corresponding number (stated on the HMRC page), which is: +44 135 535 9022 After trying to ring it multiple times, I always get the same message: "This number is temporarily disabled". How can I reach out to HMRC to solve this urgent issue to try to understand why my Certificate of Residence is missing? Thanks in advance. -
RE: Refusal of letter of confirmation by Portuguese Tax Office as Certificate of Residence
Hi again, As I'm currently living in Portugal, using a UK helpline would be a bit costy as it will be overseas call. Is there any reliable email contact that I can use to reach out to HMRC to solve this issue? Thanks in advance. -
RE: Certificate of Residence for tax purposes
Hi Joana Morais, Think I'll do the same as it's been more than a month since I filled that form and didn't get it yet on my mail in Portugal. What contacts did you use to reach out to HMRC and how quick did they repply back? Thanks in advance. -
RE: Refusal of letter of confirmation by Portuguese Tax Office as Certificate of Residence
Hi again, After filling this form on the 16th of October, the estimated delivery time was on the 7th of November, stated by the HMRC website. After two weeks past the estimated date, I still didn't get any mail from HMRC and I can see on the website that the process is now complete. How can I be sure that the Certificate was already sent? Is there a way of tracking this or a contact that I can use for this purpose? Thanks in advance. -
RE: Certificate of Residence for tax purposes
Hi Joana, I've also applied for that Certificate of Residence on the 16th of October and they said that the estimate time to get that was on the 7th of November. I can see that the form is on the "Done" state on my HMRC app, but I haven't got any mail yet. How long did you have to wait until you got your Letter of Confirmation? Thanks in advance. P.S. - peinuts, they're probably just asking for the year 2018, as anything before that is more than 5 years from the present year (2022), and as such, it's considered as "outdated". -
RE: Refusal of letter of confirmation by Portuguese Tax Office as Certificate of Residence
Hi all, After reading this thread, I quickly realized that I'm in the same situation as some people here. I've moved to the UK during late 2016 and end of 2018 where I worked in two different UK based companies and was considered a resident in the UK during this period. After going back and forth with the Portuguese Tax Office, they asked me to state my foreign income in the year 2018, and so I did that. As I'm being double taxed, they are now asking me for a Certificate of Residence to prove that: - I've lived in the UK during that period I mentioned above. - Double Taxation Agreement is included between Portugal and the UK Going through the online form, as I don't have any foreign income for this period, I will be issued a letter of confirmation rather than a Certificate of Residence, correct? As mentioned above by other people, the Portuguese Tax Office will refuse the letter of confirmation as that will not include the Double Taxation Agreement. Is there a way of solving this issue? Thanks in advance.
