RE: Non-Reporting Fund
I have a non reporting fund bought for a relatively modest amount around 30 years ago when I was an expatriate for 10 years. I have been back in the UK for over 20 years. If I am deemed non resident for a tax year under HMRC rules at some point in the future and I sell this fund during that year will I be liable for any UK tax on it and do I need to include it on my Self Assessment Tax return (which I may need to continue to fill in while overseas because I have a UK pension etc)? Alternatively, if I remain UK resident for tax purposes but leave this fund to my husband in my will, will he then be liable to any tax if he then sells it? He is also UK resident for tax purposes.
