Paying tax bill through next year tax code
For 22/23 tax year I have a tax bill (under £3000 and meets the other rules) My account shows I owe for Tax year ending 05 Apr 2023, a balancing payment with a due date of 31 Jan 2024 Below it says "How to Pay" linking to https://www.gov.uk/pay-self-assessment-tax-bill/through-your-tax-code This pages makes no mention of how HMRC confirm this will happen Will HMRC update my 24/25 tax code to collect this bill ? How will I know they will do this? If the payment is due 31 Jan 2024 surely I need confirmation that HMRC will collect via my tax code before this date to avoid any penalty
