  • Full payment made and transaction appearing on site, but balancing payment still requested

    Good afternoon, I finished filing my online Self Assessment tax return a few days ago, and paid the calculated sum immediately after submission through the "Pay by bank account" option. The payment left my bank account, and it's shown on the Self Assessment summary page under the "Your card and bank account payments in the last 7 days" section - but the "Your Balance" section just above nonetheless still says that the full amount is outstanding. Do I need to do anything to reconcile the payment that I've made with the seemingly still outstanding charge, or will this be done automatically? I had assumed that it was the latter option, because the page says "it will take up to 7 days to update your balance after each payment" - but wanted to make sure that I'm not exposing myself to a penalty through inaction.
