I have also received simple assessment notice from HMRC in March of this year. I received 3 letters from 3 previous tax years saying that I owe x amount of money. I have already phoned the HMRC helpline and they have confirmed that I owe that x amount of money but whenever I check my gateway account, it shows that I have paid the correct amount of tax from those years and I have nothing to pay. The lady who I have spoken to from your helpline told me that I don’t need to log in, I just need to enter the codes to pay for it but how will I see any updates about my payments if it doesn’t show in my account? Hope that you can answer my questions. Thank you.

I have phoned them again last week (Thursday) to update my details as my March payslip showed that my main job taxcode was BR and my supplementary job was 1257L. It should be the other way around as there’s no assurance that I will be earning more than the tax allowance in my second job. They said that they have already updated it in the system but my main job still doesn’t show in my gateway account so I am not sure if it’s been rectified already. I’ve been keeping in touch with your helpline since February of this year but I don’t think I am getting anywhere.

Hi, I would just like to ask for clarification. I am employed and I have a supplementary job. I have been employed in my main job since 2019 and my second job started 2020. When I created my gateway account, I’ve only seen my second job in there so I’ve added a missing employer which is my main job. What happened was they’ve swapped the tax codes. My main job now has 1257L while my second job has BR tax code so I phoned HMRC to clarify this and the agent that I have spoken to assure me that this will be rectified next month. However, when I visited my gateway account the next day, my main employer was not listed anymore. I am just wondering what happened? Hope that someone can help me.
