RE: Certificate of Residence for tax purposes
Hi,
The years 2007-2010 would have no bearing on the decision therefore selecting 'no' would be the prefered option.
Thank you. -
RE: Foreign income for

RE: Pay tax in UK on Australian income
Hi,
Generally if you are a UK resident, you must declare your worldwide income on a Self Assessment tax return form. Unless you do not remit the income to the UK and the income remains in the other country.
If you remain non UK resident, you may not be required to declare your earnings from abroad.
You can find the Statutory Residence Test (SRT) to determine your tax status here:
RDR3: Statutory Residence Test (SRT) notes
You can find guidance on reporting income from abroad if UK resident for tax here:
Tax on foreign income
Thank you. -
RE: Self Assessment Registration
Hi,
There is no standard form for this.
It would just be a letter posted to our Pay As You Earn and Self Assessment address here:
Income Tax: general enquiries
Thank you. -
RE: Property Allowance
Hi,
The £1000 property allowance is there if your overall expenses are less than £1000 any year hence you can choose this.
It is not a fixed arrangement as your expenses may vary year by year.
Thank you. -
RE: Access to Government Gateway
Hi,
Sorry, our helplines are busy at the moment and you may have to wait to get through.
We need to ask security questions before we can allow access to the online account. If you are unable to verify you will need to claim by post.
If you are able to print the form and post, you can find the form here:
Claim back a flexibly accessed pension overpayment
Thank you.

RE: Basic Rate on 100% of Army pension but 550L tax code on salary
Hi,
Without being able to see your codes, 550L does mean £5500 tax free allowance.
BR would tax 100% of the income at 20% on the pension.
Thank you. -
RE: Currency exchange on capital gain in foreign currency to Sterling
Hi,
No, there is only Capital Gains Tax to pay on any gain.
Thank you. -
RE: Foreign interest and dividends
Hi,
If your only foreign income is from interest or dividends below £2000, you can put these amounts in box 3 and box 5 on page TR3 of the return instead of completing the foreign page.
You do not need to complete both.
Thank you. -
RE: US IRA distribution - is 25% of it tax free?
Hi,
UK pension income has 25% tax free.
As this is not from a UK pension, the 25% tax free element does not apply.
Thank you.
