  • RE: P800 Tax Due - How to pay

    I've just had a similar experience to those already reported. I was told the exact amount due and that payment could be made online. But am also being advised I have nothing to pay for 2023/24. Why isn't the information the HMRC agent can clearly see not reflected when I log in to my account? I had told an agent earlier last year I wanted to pay a lump sum and not have my tax code adjusted, but the agent I spoke to recently said the code had already been adjusted. True, she gave me the details on how to pay by cheque, but surely payment should be equally possible by debit card / bank transfer, as these alternatives are mentioned on the website? There appears to be some disconnect between what HMRC agents can see / advise and what our online account is informing us. There was not even mention that a letter was on its way, whereby (as in previous years) I could pay by debit card.
