Laptop sent to Germany for repair. Import fees charged on return. Full docs of UK purchase.
Have a laptop purchased March last year on ebay from a seller in Scotland (with ebay "receipt"). Had an issue with the laptop Feb this year. Got in touch with the manufacturer (Schenker, in Germany) who arranged for a warranty repair. Sent the laptop off to them end of March (via Parcelforce, they passed to DHL in Germany, docs proving both) Repaired. They've sent it back via UPS. UPS haven't been able to clear it through customs with the docs Schenker included in the return. Further docs were asked for from me + provided. There's still a £677 import fee being charged on having my laptop returned from warranty repair. I'm obviously in the "pickle" of: 1) Do I pay and reclaim, if so, how? I have an electronic copy of the export docs Schenker attached. I don't read German and don't know the codes that they should have used/etc. 2) Do I have to get UPS+Schenker to sort it out on my behalf or eat the import fees? I'm a £2k laptop or £677 import fees out of pocket at this point and looking for the suggested best way forwards.
