RE: UK income tax on periodic pension payments received from Canadian RRIF
I too have a very similar question regarding periodic payments and NOT the lump sum payment. I read a post from another individual on another forum who stated that they made minimum withdrawals from their RRIF in order to avoid Withholding Tax and submission of an annual tax return to Canada Revenue. They stated that HMRC advised that they would be taxed 20% on 90% of the RRIF amount in the UK. Is this correct? I'm assuming then that when the Canadian funds from the RRIF are converted and transferred into my UK account that this would be the amount that is reported to HMRC on my annual income tax? Or would the funds be directly deposited to my UK account?
