RE: Double taxation issue
Hi HMRC As previous HMRC mentioned,' The Hong Kong salary should not be reported to the UK as the duties were carried out in Hong Kong.' I want to confirm is it no matter whether I qualify split year or not, I still do not need to report my Hong Kong salary as the duties were carried out in Hong Kong according to the double taxation agreement. Thanks! -
RE: Double taxation issue
Hi HMRC If I do not qualify split year, but as you said the Hong Kong salary should not be reported to the UK as the duties were carried out in Hong Kong according to double taxation agreement, am I correct I do not need to report my HK salary even I do not qualify split year? Thanks! -
RE: Foreign Income
Hi HMRC Admin According to RDR1 9.15. If your unremitted foreign income and gains arising or accruing in the tax year are less than £2,000, you can use the remittance basis without having to complete a Self Assessment tax return. And my Hong Kong employment terminated before I arrived in the UK and so do not have to declare the income to HMRC. Is it I do not need to file self assessment tax return as my unremitted foreign income is less than £2,000? Thanks for your help! -
RE: Foreign Income
Hi HMRC Admin, As you said the duties which were carried out in HK needed not be declared in the UK, my other foreign income except that is less than £2,000 and I have no UK income here. Am I correct that I need not file self assessment? Thanks! -
RE: Double taxation issue
Hi, I arrived UK on 5 June 2022. I had HK salary before I arrived UK. After I arrived UK, my foreign income is less than £2,000. As you said, The Hong Kong salary should not be reported to the UK as the duties were carried out in Hong Kong. Am I correct that I do not need to file self assessment return as my foreign income is less than £2,000? Thanks! -
Self Assessment tax return
I came to UK on 5 June 2022 through BNO Visa. According to the double taxation agreement between UK and HK, my employment income in HK should be only taxed in HK. Other than that, my other foreign income is less than £2,000 and I have no UK income. Am I correct that I do not need to file self assessment as my foreign income is less than £2,000? Thanks!
