Upon realising my gateway logins were wrong and there is somehow 3 accounts under my UTR, I have several messages on there saying I did not file a return for year 2021-2022.
I did work self employed for one week so it came under the £1000 allowance, I called HMRC after receiving a letter earlier in the year stating a £100 fine to confirm that I would not need to file a self assessment tax return. The bloke I spoke to confirmed that I did not need to and said he would sort it out on his end.
Now the fines come to £1200 and I have until 22 Sep 2022 to pay it, no contact has been made via my email or mobile or by post.
I have now filed the return confirming I earned less than £1000, will this remove the fines from my account or do I still need to contact HMRC on your totally useless and unstaffed contact centre?
