RE: Gift tax for cash gift from overseas
Hi I am a naturalised UK citizen/UK tax payer. I married legally in 2021/religious ceremony in 2022. One of my parents with no ties to the UK wishes to give me a cash gift of USD 7,000 on the occasion of my marriage (transfer this amount from abroad). Given that some time has passed since the wedding, do I have to declare this and do I get taxed for it? Thank you very much.
