Final submission for tax year
Hello, I'm a bit confused by the guidance given in the HMRC Basic PAYE tools user guide for the treatment of the "Final submission for the tax year", as described on this page in the guide: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/basic-paye-tools-user-guide/basic-paye-tools-user-guide#annual-reporting-and-tasks Particularly where it talks about sending the final report in an EPS vs an FPS, where it states: " When to send an Employer Payment Summary (EPS) You should send your final report in an EPS instead of an FPS if any of the following apply: you forgot to put ‘yes’ in the ‘final submission for year’ field in your last FPS, however BPT will allow you to make an additional FPS submission if it is before 19 April " My situation is that I have generated (and now submitted) my last FPS detailing the last salary payments of the tax year, but there was no option that I saw to put 'yes' into any 'final submission for year' field (which is not a checkbox for question that I saw when generating or submitting my FPSs for this month, and the last of the tax year) - where is this field found in BPT, if possible could you point it out to me for next time? I can now, in the basic PAYE Tools application, click and follow the "Final submission for tax year" menu option but this generates an FPS not an EPS and does not give me an option to choose one or the other. In addition, the FPS that is generated is almost entire empty, containing only the following data: yes Is it sufficient to just send the new FPS containing just the data above that BPT has generated? Or do I need to take some other corrective action? Many thanks for any assistance that can be offered
