Hi, I went online to register for self assessment on 14Aug2023, and after more than 3 weeks, I have not yet received the UTR. Is there anyway to check the status? I have received reference number for my online self-assessment registration but need the UTR to proceed. It is becoming near the deadline of 5Oct2023. What will happen if I still have not received the UTR by 5Oct2023?

I applied online for self assessment on 14Aug2023, and received acknowledgement email from HMRC with a 15 chars reference number. However till today (13Sep2023) I have not received the UTR. I checked online resource of HMRC which informed that I should have received UTR reply by 8 Sep 2023, but I have not received. How can I check the status of my UTR application. I know that there is a deadline to register my self-assessment with HMRC by 5 Oct 2023. It is becoming near this deadline. What should I do if I do not receive the UTR by the deadline. Kindly please advise. Thanks.
