  • Fire alarm cost

Hello. I live in Scotland and I'm self employed. From February 1st 2022 in Scotland a new law will start. This requires that every house in Scotland must have: - smoke alarms in every hall or landing space - one smoke alarm in the most used room in the house ( usually living room ) - one heat alarm in the kitchen Now... since I work from home my most used room in the house is not the living room but my studio from where I work ( the third bedroom in my house ), so I was wondering if I can declare as expense the cost of the fire alarm ( one only ) I have to install in my studio. Thank you
  • EU VAT e-commerce package

Hello. I would like to ask you some clarification about the new rules on VAT applicable from July 1st. I'm a self employed with a partnership ( registered in UK where I live ) and I sell handmade stuff online (everything is shipped from UK worldwide) I sell on: amazon etsy ebay plus I have my own website where my stuff are sold ( worldwide ). Now... I understand that these new rules apply to every of those marketplace so I won't have to do anything about that because VAT will be directly collected from amazon/ebay etc at the point of sale and remit to the VAT body. However... what about my own website? Do I have to register for VAT? How that works for me? I tried to read articles, gov website pages etc but I'm more confused than before, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
