  • Inheritance Tax - definition of gifts from 'regular monthly income'

I am trying to find out how 'regular monthly income' as defined in IHT gifting rules. I receive regular periodic payments for damages due to personal injury. The periodic payments compensate me my lost income and cover my extra costs (e.g. care, medical therapy, equiptment costs). These payments are exempt from income tax and are disregarded for the purposes of assessing means tested benefits. I have excess funds and want to know whether I can make gifts from my periodic payments and do this meet HMRC's definition of gifting regularly from my monthly income? I can afford to gift and it does not reduce my standard of living. As periodic payments are not taxed as income, I do not know whether they meet the definition for the purposes of IHT gifting rules?
