  • Selling a house in France; CGT liabilities in the UK

We will be completing a sale on a holiday house in France on which there is no CGT liability in France (owned for over 30 years). I have three queries: 1. When do we have to inform HMRC of the sale? 2. How long do we have to pay the CGT? 3. Over 30 + years we spent considerable sums on building and renovation. I have workmens' receipts for all building works (roof/ building etc). We also have receipts for items (bathroom ceramics/ new kitchen etc) We bought and installed ourselves. What can we claim to offset CGT?
