RE: After Self assessment registration
Thanks. So is there no problem that I got a UTR number this year and do not have self assessment return this year. Can the UTR number be kept for next year or any following year when I require to have tax returns? Thanks -
RE: After Self assessment registration
Thanks, but I started to receive uk property rental income since june2023, so I will need a self assessment return for 2023-2024. Do I have to keep the utr or I just close now and reopen for next year ? -
RE: After Self assessment registration
Yes. Thanks. I have already checked. If I don’t need to send a self assessment return , do I need to tell HMRC after my first time registered for the self assessment? Thanks -
RE: Rental income from overseas
Thank you for your reply. I understand that but they are my parents, they are giving me money for paying the mortgage, could that counted as gift? It is really questionable . Thanks a lot -
After Self assessment registration
Hi, I just registered online for the self assessment and got the UTR number ,however, after checking, I think I don’t need to send a self assessment return, do I just leave it or I still need to send a return because I registered for this? Thanks -
RE: Rental income from overseas
Hi, I am feeling confused actually. Your previous reply said “ If they are just living there and paying your mortgage then this is not classed a rental income.” I am exactly under this circumstances, why you now say these needed a tax return? Thank you so much for the clarification. -

RE: Rental income from overseas
Thanks. However , under this circumstances, the property is my parent's are paying my mortgage. It didn’t generate any income and no rental agreement signed with them. Does it still be considered as rental income? Thanks a lot -
