  • Transferring an existing ISA while abroad

I am currently not resident in UK for tax purposes, so I know I cannot open any new ISAs. However your website states that “You can transfer an ISA to another provider even if you are not resident in then UK”. Can you confirm if this is optional for the provider to accept? I am trying to move an old cash ISA to another ISA provider with whom I also have old ISAs that I opened whilst I was in the UK. However the receiving ISA provider says “ I'm sorry to say that we will be unable to accept an ISA transfer into [provider] whilst you're residing outside of the UK. In order for us to be able to accept an ISA transfer into [provider] you need to be UK tax resident.” This isn’t consistent with what it says on the HMRC website. Thanks
