  • NHS pension and 30 hours fee childcare

Hi, I am an NHS consultant. Can you confirm that I will remain eligible for 30 hours free childcare despite my gross earnings creeping slightly over £100,000, as my taxable earnings will remain well under this due to pre-tax NHS pension contributions? Pension contributions are at a rate of 13.5% gross pay, so taxable income will be about £90,000. This is of course assuming no other sources of taxable income.
  • RE: Adjusted net income for tax free childcare eligibility

Hi there, I would also like clarity on this as I am in a similar situation to Dom. As HMRC admin 20 has said Dom is correct, I am going to assume the taxable pay on NHS payslip (i.e. the gross pay less the pension contribution) is the figure that would be used to calculate eligibility for 30 hrs free childcare. Thanks, Paul
