RE: Business/Trading name not getting changed
I’m an agent working with a client to update their trading name, but we’ve been unsuccessful so far. The request remains pending before ultimately being rejected. Upon reviewing their VAT details, I’ve found that while their business name is correct, their trading name is not. This discrepancy is impacting their Amazon account, as they’re unable to complete the verification process. The VAT online checker is displaying the outdated trading name, which is the information we need updated. I called the VAT hotline, and they directed me to the VAT Change of Circumstances department, advising me to email and send a letter outlining the issue to vatchangeofcircs@hmrc.gov.uk. I sent these on September 26th, but we’ve had no response, and the trading name remains unchanged. Could you please advise on the next steps? After reading this post, I considered it might be linked to their Sole Trader name, but that appears correct in their business account. Please note - The client has tried to update this via their business tax account, we have tried through our agent account, we have sent emails and letters and made several phone calls. Every phone call we either get directed to another line who cannot help us or ask us to email in, our efforts have been extensive at this point.
