RE: State pension and NI contribution
Thank you. Yes I do need to know if 22_23 is a qualifying year and I will call after 6th April. I understand that qualifying years are based on the lower and upper earning limits for the period (six months) that I worked. Is there an online calculator that I can use for my own information? -
RE: Clarification on the extended deadline for paying voluntary NIC
This thread has excellent information, especially when both HMRC and DWP are inundated with phone calls about AVL. I recently posted a thread (about state pension and NI contribution). It appears that my question may have been answered by this thread. If my NI contribution is over £824.20 for the year 2022_2023, can I consider that I have a full year of contribution for state pension purposes? (I wonder whether you, Gary could confirm since you seem to be 'au fait' with this topic?) -
State pension and NI contribution
I will reach my state pension age in June. I have received an invitation from the DWP to apply. However, since I retired in Oct 2022 I don't know whether my current year 2022_23 is complete. Reviewing my future pension forecast, there is no indication of when this will populate. I have tried to call HMRC and was on hold for 40 minutes and gave up. According to my former employer I have paid just over £800 pounds. How do I know if this is enough? Or whether I need to top up with AVL before claiming my state pension?
