Hello, I registered a company around 2 weeks ago but I do not plan on trading soon. Therefore I want to make the company dormant. Can somebody give me advice on how to go about doing this? Would be good to know what steps need to be taken and what information is needed. So far I have only received one letter from companies house, congradulating me on becoming a director. I have not received UTR. Do I need to file accounts before I've even started trading to be able to make a company dormant? Thank you

Hi, Are you asking about dormancy for tax purposes or dormant for companies house purposes? They have different definitions of dormant.

Hi dannyjhardy,
The UTR would have been sent by post to the registered office address.
You should check your details are correct on Companies House.
You can request another copy is sent to the registered office address using the link below:
Ask for a copy of your Corporation Tax UTR
Once you have the company UTR please follow the process as set out in the link below:
Dormant companies and associations
Thank you.
