Hi, As the cost of a mobile phone is usually less than £1K, I would like to ask if it's okay for me to deduct it as an operating expense for my limited company. Or I have to depreciate it over a number of years. Thanks

Hi
As the cost of the phone is a capital item the cost of the phone cannot be deducted as an operating expense.
Like any other captial expenditure it will be elegible for captal allowances.

Does it mean that I can claim the purchase of mobile phone under AIA (Annual Investment Allowance)? Thanks

Hi,

Please refer to the 'Capital Allowances Manual'
- CA23081 and CA23084.

Thank you.

Not very helpful! Why not answer yes or no?
