Working under a French contract from the UK

Hi, I secured my partner visa and will join my partner in the UK shortly. I am currently employed by a French company (under a French contract) and would like to keep working for them from the UK (at least for the coming months). I would like to confirm with you whether this is possible under British regulations and what would be the steps to avoid the risk of double taxation both for my company and myself?
